For the readers of  TDHD blog, here’s the promised How-To on my Mother’s Day Wreath (and a pretty dang cool Before and After if I do say so myself).

Start with a cooking disaster like this one and any items your kids waste the most.  In my house, that means baby wipes and fruit loops.  Your inspiration will vary, but the results—I’m sure—will be just as impressive.

Materials:

1 burned batch Pillsbury Grands biscuits, cooled

Dried out baby wipes (the really good, expensive kind only, please)

Cereal of choice in spring colors

High temperature hot glue (because low temp is for show-offs without scars)

Directions:

Fold a sheet of baby wipes in half and cut apart.

Fold each piece in half, and then in half again.  Set one piece aside.

Cut a petal shape around the non-folded edges.

Open up your wipe—you should have a nice flower shape.

Pinch the short sides of the petal together with your fingers to gather the center.

Hot glue the back side of the flower to a small piece of scrap to help hold the shape.

Turn right side over and set aside.

Cut another, smaller flower using the same technique from the remaining diaper wipe half.  Rotate the smaller flower 90 degrees and glue to the larger flower.

For the center, pick your most festive shades of cereal. I went for orange and green, but do what works best for your decor. 

I’ve also left my cereal as-is which gives it a nice matte finish.  If you prefer a gloss finish, simply use milk-soaked, dried cereal from your kitchen floor.  That cereal will have a nice sheen, but will be somewhat smaller.

Glue small broken piece to the center ring and affix to your flower.

Done!  Easy, practical and cute to boot!

Create as many as you’d like and arrange, along with any additional embellishments, on your wreath.  I had originally planned to use animal crackers on my project, but ended up liking the simplicity of the three flower cluster.

And as mentioned on TDHD post, extra flowers can rock out a skinny headband, handbag or left over clippie from your daughter’s closet.
